Fara Thomas an Iranian American artist moved to California with her family in 1970s to excel in the new world of opportunities. Following the wishes of her parents, she received post grad degree in a completely different field in addition to pursuing her passion in art. Her work is inspired by her love of color, from which she experiences a sheer delight in the myriad of vivid hues of our environment and highlighted by a critical concern in how we see and experience color as colors transcend our thought and takes us to a place beyond the mind and into the heart and soul. There is a language to color. Color is how she conveys a message and transforms her viewer intellectually and emotionally.
As pigments are mixed with resin, Thomas begins her paintings without a beginning or ending in mind, she paints without knowing. This spontaneous painting process suits her better than pre-planning every step, trying not to focus too much on the outcome of a painting session. Each emerging shape and color is a response to the last as a dialogue takes place between each layer and color.
