Canadian artist Geneviève Phénix is a self-taught mixed-media painter. She primarily paints in watercolour - because of its fluidity and transparency - but also in acrylic when executing larger canvases. Her technique aims to combine various mediums in order to produce rich textures out of materials such as silk paper, impasto, photography, paint, and charcoal. Her work is instinctive and composed of wavy strokes, three-dimensional shapes, and abstract movements. Color is also essential in her work; the strong colors are dimmed down by sand to create a feeling of serenity.
Born in Canada, artist Geneviève Phénix works and lives in Le Richelieu, Quebec. She grew up in an artistic environment and taught herself to paint at a young age. After her studies at the University of Québec, Montréal and several years of work in the advertising business, Geneviève decided to dedicate her life to the arts as she opened her own art business in 2012. Since then, she has been part of several group and solo exhibitions in Canada.
